For athletes

Property after the final siren.

Income in sport is real but uneven. We help current and transitioning athletes turn playing years into property they can hold long after the contracts stop.

I played 200 games for the Aspley Hornets between 2009 and 2023, across the NEAFL, VFL and QAFL. We lost three grand finals between 2012 and 2015, and I captained the side to the 2022 QAFL premiership. My first property lessons came from my manager at AFL SportsReady, who showed me how equity can fund the next deposit. I build plans for athletes the way I wish mine had been built.

The short answer

How should athletes approach property?

Plan around the income you can rely on, not your best contract year. Buy assets you could hold if playing income stopped tomorrow, keep a real buffer, and make sure each purchase has a defined job in a longer plan.

The biggest risk is not a bad suburb. It is buying at the peak of your earnings into a structure that only works while the contract lasts.

What we focus on

Built for uneven income.

Plan for the transition

We model holding costs against the income you expect after sport, not just this season's contract.

Buffer before buying

A cash buffer is set aside before the first offer, so injury, delisting or a gap between contracts does not force a sale.

We do the legwork

Training, travel and games leave little time for inspections. We run the search, comparables, negotiation and due diligence for you.

The game plan

Same process as every client. Built around a season.

1. The brief

Your contract position, income outlook, borrowing, buffer and goals after sport, working alongside your broker, accountant and manager.

2. Market and property

Markets chosen for durable demand, not hype. Every property assessed with manual comparable sales.

3. Purchase and reviews

Negotiation, due diligence and settlement handled for you, then reviews at month one, mid-year and twelve months.

Common questions

FAQ

Can athletes get a home loan on contract income?

Lenders assess contract and sporting income differently, and policies vary. That is a question for a broker who understands athlete income. We work alongside yours, or can introduce one.

Should I buy while I'm still playing?

Often it makes sense to buy while income is strong, but only into a position you could hold if playing income stopped. The plan comes first.

How do you charge?

A fixed fee agreed upfront, split equally between engagement and unconditional exchange. It does not change with the purchase price.
